OpenAI's current GPT-6 models range from GPT-6 Luna at $0.10 per 1M input tokens to GPT-6 Astra at $10. Cached input costs a tenth or less of the input price, and the Batch API halves both.

USD per 1M tokens, standard tier. A typical request here is 2,000 input and 400 output tokens, with no caching. Anthropic's "cached input" is its cache-read price; cache writes cost extra.

- GPT-6 Astra pricing: GPT-6 Astra is the most expensive GPT-6 model on OpenAI's pricing page, at five times the price of GPT-6.1 Sol.
- GPT-6.1 Sol pricing: GPT-6.1 Sol sits in the middle of OpenAI's current lineup: a fifth of GPT-6 Astra's price and twice GPT-6.1 Terra's.
- GPT-6.1 Terra pricing: GPT-6.1 Terra costs half as much as GPT-6.1 Sol per token, which makes it the first model to test when Sol is more than a task needs.
- GPT-6 Luna pricing: GPT-6 Luna is the lowest-priced GPT-6 model, at a twentieth of GPT-6.1 Sol's per-token price, built for high-volume, simple tasks.
Where the bill comes from
Most of a typical bill is output tokens and repeated input. Output costs about five times input or more on these models, and an uncached system prompt is paid for on every call. Cut output length, cache the prefix, and batch what can wait before you change models.
