How-toHow to Export Your Anthropic Usage and Cost Data
Anthropic's Usage and Cost Admin API gives you token usage and dollar costs by model, key and workspace. Here's what to pull and why.
Use an Admin API key with GET /v1/organizations/usage_report/messages for tokens and GET /v1/organizations/cost_report for dollars.
Before you start
You need an Admin API key (it starts with sk-ant-admin), which is a different key type from a normal API key. These reports read data; they don't use tokens.
Token usage
GET /v1/organizations/usage_report/messages, grouped by model with daily buckets. Results split into uncached input, cache reads, cache writes (5-minute and 1-hour) and output tokens.
Costs
GET /v1/organizations/cost_report returns daily costs in USD, groupable by description, with model and token type, so you can see what caching saves in dollars.
What to look at
- Cache reads against uncached input: your real hit rate.
- Output share of spend.
- Spend by API key or workspace, to attribute it to products.
Caveats
These reports cover the Claude API. Traffic through Amazon Bedrock or Google Cloud is billed there and isn't in them.

Frequently asked questions
How do I get Claude API usage data?
With an Admin API key, call the usage report and cost report endpoints of Anthropic's Usage and Cost Admin API.
Does the Anthropic cost report include Bedrock usage?
No. Claude usage through Amazon Bedrock or Google Cloud is billed and reported by those platforms.
